Mini & JuniorMale or female, from P1 to P6, October – May each season. Don't worry if you've never held a hockey stick, indeed don't worry if you don't have a hockey stick, we can provide one, courtesy of a grant from the Foundation for Sport & Arts. You just need to join as a member, bring yourself, some shin pads and a gum shield and the £1 fee. We even have mini goal keeper's kit for those budding keepers out there. Parents are also welcome to stay and even get involved in the coaching sessions. If you are interested you will have to complete POCVA form on the Our Club section and submit it to Gillian White, our Junior Liaison Officer, or a member of the Mini Committee who will pass it on.
The mini section has seen a success in the past at the inaugural Carrickfergus Mini Hockey Tournament at Carrick Leisure Centre in 2003/2004 with all three teams entered reaching their respective semi-finals. In 2005/2006 at the same tournament the 9-11 year olds reached the final against Omagh, but were unfortunately being defeated by a single goal. A Mini sub Committee administrates and organizes mini hockey ensuring both the parents and coaches can deliver a safe environment for the children to learn sporting skills and have fun. For further details contact Janet Magill or Paula Murray. Juniors Female 11-14 years. Sept – May each season. For further details contact Jackie Shiels, Membership Officer. There are two Junior teams. Under 14’s which takes part in an Under 14 league played approx. once a month on a Sunday afternoon and Under 12’s league which has just been developed and starts this season. Junior teams also attend various tournaments by invite, usually towards the end of the season. It is vita that we have parental volunteers to help with transport to matches, so please complete and return your POCVA forms, also downloadable from our club page.
